Allow us to help you!
- What you need to know when receiving a shipment from Gare -
Studios - we always recommend checking your orders thoroughly when they arrive to make sure the stretch wrap, and pallet wrapping has not been disturbed. If you notice any obvious damage or think there may be possible concealed damage, please proceed as follows…
Damaged and/ or Possible Concealed Damage…
Take a picture if your order arrives damaged or with possible concealed damage (crushed, dented boxes etc.). Next, If you feel there may be damaged items upon opening your delivery, sign your Bill Of Lading (BOL) as “possible concealed damage”. If you 100% know there is damage you can sign “damaged”. Also, you will need to sign both the Driver’s BOL copy and your copy this way. In addition to noting the BOL’s, contact the freight carrier/ forwarder immediately and then contact us so that we can work together to resolve the issue.
If you do receive a damaged order, we both understand and share your frustration as we feel terrible when this happens. Many times when we receive photographs from our studios, it appears that the pallets are most likely rearranged by someone involved in the delivery of your product. Unfortunately, this happens from time to time and we share your pain. Below is what we do to try and minimize these issues.
How our orders leave our warehouses:
This is our process and how our orders leave our warehouses - the only difference between East Coast and West Coast is that black tape and the semi-transparent weather cap is not used on the West Coast.
We have a standardized process that includes several lines of defense to reduce breakage and protect your order.
1. Starting with the pallet - we examine them for breakage. If there is any breakage we discard that pallet as we only use solid ones without cracks or damage.
2. To optimize balance & prevent pallets from tipping and boxes from getting crushed, we load all the heavy items on the bottom with lighter items on the top.
3. When items are placed on the pallet we make sure there is no overhang on the sides and edges.
4. Next, in both warehouses, we tightly secure all the boxes on the pallet. On East Coast shipments, we use black banding tape to stabilize the boxes.
5. After we tape it, as an additional line of defense, we stretch and wrap the entire order/ pallet with a large label that reads "VERY FRAGILE DO NOT TOP LOAD, BUMP OR DROP - INSPECT FOR DAMAGES".
6. Weather defense on East Coast shipments - As a final layer of defense, we use a "topper" which is for weather defense to protect your order from harsh weather such as snow, sleet and rain.
Each order is checked before it leaves our warehouse.
Unfortunately, even with this process it does not prevent the carriers from rearranging your palletized/ stretch wrapped order to maximize their truck load. This can include things like taking off the top several boxes and putting them to the side, top loading with heavy goods on top of yours to maximize their load which can end up crushing the boxes. We have even seen crushed boxes with footprints on them from carriers walking on orders. We always recommend studios check their orders thoroughly when their order arrives to make sure the stretch wrap, and pallet wrapping has not been disturbed.
If you have any additional questions and/ or concerns about our packing process, please reach out to us via email - currently our phones are down and email is the best way to reach us.
Thank you for your understanding and your loyal business
